How It Works

Petro-X™ is a procedure-first compatibility engine for the international petroleum trade. Sellers submit their complete transaction procedures. Buyers define the commercial terms, documentation requirements, and transaction procedures they will and will not accept. The Petro-X™ Compatibility Engine evaluates every active Buyer Grid against every active Seller Procedure, analyzing procedural compatibility across verification requirements, payment terms, logistics, tank access, buyer risk conditions, and other commercial criteria. Compatible counterparties are then prioritized according to execution compatibility, enabling confidential Petro-X™ Introductions between parties whose procedures are already substantially aligned.

The Petroleum Exchange is not a self-service listing platform. There is no public marketplace or searchable board of Buyers and Sellers. Instead, the Petro-X™ Compatibility Engine continuously evaluates active Buyer Grids and Seller Procedures, after which The Petroleum Exchange reviews the highest-ranked, procedure-compatible matches before determining whether to initiate a confidential Petro-X™ Introduction.

This approach is intentional. Rather than generating large numbers of speculative leads, The Petroleum Exchange replaces marketplace noise with curated, procedure-compatible introductions designed to maximize the likelihood of successful execution.

During the matching process, participants are identified only by their username and Petro-X™ Profile Tier. Names, company names, and contact information remain confidential — The Petroleum Exchange does not exchange real names or contact details between counterparties at any stage, including after the Petro-X™ NCNDA/IMFPA is executed. Once both parties elect to proceed, The Petroleum Exchange opens their Petro-X™ Closing Room — powered by The Closing Rooms (TheClosingRooms.com) — where the Petro-X™ NCNDA/IMFPA is negotiated and executed.

Streamlined Process

    Create an Account

Sign up with your email address and confirm it in one click. No application form, no waitlist. You are on the platform and building your profile from day one.

  2. 02

    Complete Your Profile

Add your company website to qualify for T2. Tiers T3–T5 are available through Business Partner Vetting (BPV), an optional independent verification service for participants who wish to demonstrate independently verified corporate information to counterparties while maintaining confidentiality. Use of BPV is entirely voluntary, and counterparties may choose whether to consider BPV tiers when evaluating potential introductions. See all BPV Tiers →

  3. 03

    Submit Your Procedure

Sellers submit their transaction procedures and product availability. Buyers complete a procedural tolerance profile that captures the commercial terms, documentation, and transaction procedures they will and will not accept.

  4. 04

    Petro-X Scores Compatibility

The Petro-X™ Compatibility Engine compares every active Seller Procedure against every active Buyer Grid. Procedural conflicts are identified, potential areas of procedural flexibility are highlighted, and compatible counterparties are prioritized according to execution compatibility.

  5. 05

Receive a Petro-X Intro and Connect

When The Petroleum Exchange authorizes a Petro-X™ Introduction, the Buyer and Seller are invited to a confidential Petro-X™ Green Room, where they may discuss the opportunity and determine whether they wish to proceed. If both parties elect to continue, The Petroleum Exchange opens their Petro-X™ Closing Room — powered by The Closing Rooms (TheClosingRooms.com) — where they negotiate and execute the Petro-X™ NCNDA/IMFPA — establishing the legal framework for their relationship and the applicable Petro-X™ Platform Commission — and then manage the transaction through closing, exchanging documents and collaborating with advisors. Additional legal documentation and transaction support are available upon request.
